Boiling Frog Syndrome: A Tale of Identity and Family

Boiling Frog Syndrome is a story about finding and rebuilding identity, family, and examinations of power in relationships. I hope that you will be drawn to the protagonist of my novel, Kai Jones, as he struggles to cope with his culture and the issues faced by his young upwardly mobile mixed family at the center of the story.

Kai Jones is a Black male living in New York City. He is in an interracial relationship, married to an Italian woman that he met in law school. They thought they were living the American dream, living on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and raising two young daughters. But when they come under attack by racist neighbors (the “Hagmans”) in their building, Kai must use his legal training to defend his family and their home from the Hagmans and the Co-Op Board that they control. If he fails, he not only risks losing his home but his family as well.
